Director of the Dual Master of Access to the Legal Profession + Business Law
Pablo Olábarri Gortázar holds bachelor in law from the University of Navarra (1983). In 1985, he obtained a Master in Taxation from the School of Economics. He is a practicing lawyer and a member of the Madrid Bar Association. He was a partner at J&A Garrigues, SLP (resulting from the merger of J&A Garrigues and Arthur Andersen Asesores Legales y Tributarios), where he worked from 1984 to 2017.
Currently, his main focus is on teaching, as he is the director and a professor of the Master in Business Law at Centro de Estudios Garrigues and of the Special Corporate Law Programme at the Madrid Bar Association. He is also a frequent speaker, delivering ‘pro bono’ talks and lectures in subjects related to marriage, family, and education.
He sits on several boards of directors of companies dedicated to various sectors of activity, where, in addition to his role as a director, providing commercial and tax advice alongside his executive functions. He is the president of the boards of trustees of Colegio de Fomento El Prado and Colegio Mayor Santillana.
He is a co-author of several publications related to corporate law, including ‘Reforma de la legislación mercantil’ (CDN), ‘El nuevo plan general de contabilidad’ (Partida Doble), ‘Business Law in Spain’ (Butterworths), and ‘Lecciones de derecho bancario y bursátil’ (COLEX).
He is a frequent speaker, having participated in several conferences and delivered presentations on topics related to business law, such as the liability of senior administrators; mergers and acquisitions; limited liability companies’ law; economic interest groups and other forms of business partnership; and accounting and finance for lawyers.
