Director of the Master.
After completing her secondary education in New York, Lola returned to Madrid, where she earned a Bachelor in Spanish and EU Law from San Pablo CEU University, with honours. She pursued political science studies while working in the mornings. After a few years of preparing for competitive exams, she joined Santander Group. She participated in the first edition of Santander’s Supera programme, which aimed to develop women executives, and completed several graduate and executive development courses in both technical and management at prestigious institutions, such as IE Business School. Notably, she completed a multinational MBA from the University of Deusto in a diverse and international environment, with modules in different countries.
She is currently legal chief operating officer at Santander, reporting to the chief legal officers and the secretary to the group’s board of directors. She has spent her professional career as a lawyer within the group, practicing in areas as diverse as new technologies, innovation, IT operations, retail banking, human resources, purchasing and costs, communication, corporate governance, and crisis management, both nationally and internationally. She has managed global teams, both directly and indirectly, in relevant and impactful projects for more than twenty years.
As legal COO, she is entrusted by the senior legal advice department with an innovative and transformational role within the internal legal services of multinational corporations, inspired by corporate strategy and culture. Her mission is to define and develop, within Legal Advice and under the supervision of the senior management, a non-technical and global management function to improve efficiency and effectiveness, focusing on achieving Santander’s strategic objectives and on defining SPF corporate conduct and responsible banking.
She has also been appointed as co-chair of the Corporate Lawyers Section of the Madrid Bar Association.
Lola combines her professional practice with various activities tied to her passion for teaching and people — without ever neglecting her priority: her family.
