Action for Ukraine: Spanish Network of Legal Clinics
Guide on procedures and resources for people displaced by the war in Ukraine
In the wake of the invasion of Ukraine, the members of the Spanish Network of Legal Clinics agreed on a joint statement of condemnation. Additionally, in response to the terrible humanitarian crisis currently unfolding, we have decided to take joint action to ensure, to the extent possible, that the Ukrainian people who have been arriving in Spain are better able to exercise their rights.
Working together, the legal clinics of the University of A Coruña, University of Alcalá, Autonomous University of Madrid, Camilo José Cela University, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Centro de Estudios Garrigues, University of Deusto, Universitat Jaume I, Miguel Hernández University of Elche, University of Murcia, University of Oviedo, Comillas Pontifical University, Rey Juan Carlos University, University of Salamanca, University of Valencia, University of Valladolid, and Universidad Villanueva produced a guide, organised by autonomous community, with information on access to health care, education, and work. The guide also includes information on measures for the protection of Ukrainian minors arriving in Spain unaccompanied.
This initiative by the legal clinics — university structures in which students and teachers engage in the social function of legal studies — demonstrates our commitment to human rights, expresses our solidarity with the Ukrainian population, and contributes to extending them a warmer welcome.
The guide can be accessed at https://clinicajuridica.usal.es/accion-red-por-ucrania/ . The information regarding some of the autonomous communities is still being prepared. Trifold leaflets in Spanish and Ukrainian will also soon be available to make this information even more accessible.
